Volunteer Corner

Volunteer of the Month

Leyla Juardo

Leyla is an energetic and joyful volunteer. She is enthusiastic in everything that she does. Being a mother to two wonderful children and attending school, she always makes time to participate in our program. Along with helping us do outreach, she has been teaching in our Art Enrichment and Play & Learn classes. She will start her training and get certified to become our very first Zumba teacher! Her smile is contagious!

Volunteer Quote of the Month

"The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others." - DeAnn Hollis

Volunteer Updates

When great creative minds come together, big ideas happen! We had our first Volunteer Meeting of this new fiscal year on Thursday, July 26 at Mercy Street FRC. We have such a great group of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers. With all of their talents combined, we are looking forward to many new classes and events within the next coming months.

For those that were not able to come to the meeting, every month we will post the Volunteer Meeting minutes online. All
volunteers in our database will have access to it (please let Nancy know if you are unable to view it).

CALLING ALL GARDENERS!  The LTI program has two wonderful community gardens in Mountain View (Mercy Street) and Sunnyvale at New World Child Development Center. In addition to planting and tending garden, we are planning a series of educational programs for children about the garden.  The curriculum has been developed, we just need volunteers to lead the programs or help us coordinate special planting parties.
