May Overview

Greetings Families, Partners, and LTI Community

If we pay attention to the news, it seems like there is pain, fear and stress everywhere. When we turn off the news and look a little closer, we start to see more of the beauty and brightness all around. This is important to keep ourselves balanced and able to deal with stresses as they come along. Watch your children when they are relaxed and playing, without a care in the world, and see if you can be in the moment with them, even if it’s just for a short while.

Warm weather is here and we have lots of fun planned for the summer. We are also starting to plan for next year – stay tuned!

Here is news from across the region:

TV Raffle Fundraiser Congratulations to Lourdes Zavala, the winner of our raffle for a
Lourdes and volunteer Jose Cruz
32” LCD HDTV! We also want to acknowledge our volunteers who helped us spread the word to their friends and family, including Yuko Fujimoto, Priti Banavalikar and Leyla Jurado Romani.  Finally, we thank all of you who were able to purchase tickets and help us raise funds. These funds will allow us to meet essential needs for upkeep of our centers, as well as contribute to opportunities to do more fun things apart from our core services.

Take the Pledge & Win an iPad

For over two years, thousands of children have taken Potter the Otter’s pledge to drink water.  This summer, we are asking that you pledge or pledge again to drink water.

We realize that for some this may be a tough decision. FIRST 5 Santa Clara and Santa Clara County Dental Society would like to “sweeten the deal.” Through the generous contribution of the Santa Clara County Dental Society, we are offering a chance to win a free iPad 2 and other Potter-related prizes if you take the pledge to drink water between now and July 24, 2013.  All children and families are welcome to participate. Hurry and take the pledge to drink water and enter for a chance to win!
