Greetings Families, Partners, and LTI Community
June has arrived! School will be ending soon and everyone is
looking for summer programs. Our schedule is continuing throughout the summer,
and we have new volunteers who are excited to share of themselves for the
enjoyment of all of us.
Here is news from across the region:
New Home for Sunnyvale Based Family
Resource Center:
The
CHAC and FIRST 5 Santa Clara County collaborative, in partnership with the Sunnyvale School District,
are proud to announce we will be opening a NEW satellite Family Resource
Center at Vargas
Elementary. The full size classroom will provide an opportunity to have play
and learn classes, parent meetings with childcare, and more. We expect to open
in mid-August 2013.
A warm THANK YOU to our hosts of the last three years, Caring
Hearts CDC. They have been a generous and welcoming partner, and we appreciate
their support as we grow into a larger space.
Now we need YOU to volunteer to help grow this new community. We
are looking for dedicated volunteers to teach classes and help us spread the
word on our valuable services. Interested? Call Nancy Doan at 650-967-4813 or
email nancydoan5@gmail.com

Take a SEEDS challenge! – while out with your child this month,
choose a color or shape and find things around you that are that color or
shape. Makes outings more fun, builds vocabulary and literacy skills, and
teaches awareness of the world around

Fond Farewell.....
This month we will be saying a fond farewell to two long-time
staff members, Hadas Keppel and Yadira Rios.
Yadira has been with CHAC/FIRST 5 for over five years. She
brings a passion for teaching both children and parents and built a strong
community of committed families who have been an integral part of our center.
She created classes as the community decided what they needed, such as the I’m
Ready for Kindergarten format (which we hope to continue), How to Create
Emotionally Healthy Children book group, and many more. Yadira will be here
until the end of June on a part time basis.
Hadas has been the Sunnyvale Community Coordinator for the past two years, and brought her expertise in infant and childhood development and innovative programs such as Baby Massage and special topics like Tantrums and Separation Anxiety. She is leaving to pursue hours toward licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist, a long-time goal. Her last day is June 7.
Both will be very much
missed! If you would like to send either of them a message, you can email to mercystreetfrc@gmail.com
Staff Changes for Sunnyvale
Community Worker Ana Moreno will be shifting duties from Mountain View to Sunnyvale. As a Sunnyvale resident, Ana is passionate about the community and is looking forward to building our program at Vargas Elementary.
